Born Eilleen Edwards August 28, 1965 in Windsor,
Ontario; later changed her name to Shania, pronounced "shun-Nye-uh,"
taken from an Ojibwa word meaning "I'm on my way"; daughter of Clarence
and Sharon Edwards; her mother later married Gerald Twain and he became
the singer's adoptive father; married Robert John "Mutt" Lange (a
songwriter and record producer), 1993. Education: Timmons High School,
Timmons, Ontario.

Began singing in local clubs, on TV and radio
stations, and in community centers at the age of 8; released first CD,
Shania Twain, 1993; released second CD, The Woman In Me that has reached
Platinum status in the U.S. and Diamond (1M) status in Canada, 1995.
